How to Avoid Shaving Rashes

We’ve all been there.  Heading off on a date or to the pool we decide to have a quick shave and end up shaving too close.  The result?  A terrible itchy red and sore shaving rash that, if we’re honest, we think looks worse than the hair would have if we’d left it.

Here are a few tips to avoid this maddening phenomenon.  There won’t always work but should help hugely.

  1. Use a really thick shower gel or, better still, a purpose-made shaving cream.
  2. Don’t be tempted to just lather on soap as it will just dry out your skin.
  3. Exfoliate the skin first to remove any dead skin cells and “lift” any stubborn hairs.
  4. Do not press to hard with the razor in an attempt to get a “closer” shave.
  5. Try to go over each area just once.  Repeatedly swiping at the same area can take off the top layer of your skin leaving it sore.
  6. Moisturize thoroughly afterwards to keep your legs smooth and soft.
  7. If you still end up with a shaving rash, we still recommend good old Sudacrem, which will have it under control in no time.
